Amiga 1000 nameplate

Description

I tried several times to get a nice dramatic angle on my original, circa-1985 Amiga 1000 computer's nameplate.  Unfortunately, with a dearth of lighting options, this ended up being the best I could get.  I still think it kinda works though, so I'm sharing it here (though I may end up moving it to scraps if I ever get a better opportunity to retake this).

I tried to emphasize the original "rainbow checkmark" symbol for the Amiga line, which was used in lieu of Commodore's more famous C= "chickenhead" logo as a means of distinguishing the 16/32-bit Amigas from the 8-bit CBM line (C64, C128, Plus/4, 16).  Yes, in yet another of their brilliant marketing moves, Commodore didn't want people to know they were the company behind Amiga -- though I suppose it could have been seen as a way to prevent a user panic such as that which doomed the Apple III and Atari 1200XL to also-ran status.  Then again, by '85 Apple was doing well enough with both the Apple II and Macintosh, and they certainly didn't shy away from letting it be known they were making both platforms...  Regardless, the checkmark is a classic Amiga icon, and I actually prefer it to the "Boing ball" that's probably more associated with Amy these days.

Interesting bit of history there – I had no idea Commodore tried to distance themselves from the Amiga. When you explain it that way it almost makes sense, but I still wonder why Commodore thought that was a good idea given their past successes / then-good standing in the home computer market.

Amigas are very far out of my area of old computer expertise but I agree with you, I prefer the rainbow checkmark to the boing ball as well. (That may be my weakness for colorful things talking, though. ^^'
